I need to replace the inter-coolers on both engines. The salt water environment has been hard on them and both are leaking. The OEM part number 296000379 has been discontinued. Is there a newer part number that supersedes it? I have noticed that the after market inter-coolers have an additional fitting on the front side. Does anyone know what that is for? Can it be plugged? As a temporary fix, could I bypass the water lines?

Ahh, the vent or "pisser" as some call it.

I just went through this. The replacement IC is larger and has this vent. The purpose is to vent air that gets trapped in the IC as it fills. You can buy a kit and drill a hole for the water discharge, or like me you can just run the hose up my engine compartment and zip tie it to the cleat. (Will do for this year, ordered the vent kit and may install it permanently this fall.)

Oh, and you can plug it as your old one didn't have the vent, but the purpose of it is valid, so why not take advantage of it.

I just purchased two used 300 SC. I am installing them on my 215s. the oem intercooler air hoses are 2 1/2 inches. Most new are 3 inches so you'll need a 3 inch reducer and a 2 1/2 inch pipe to make the silicone to silicone connection. I am going to plug the pisser. I don't want to drill an outlet below the water line. I could T it back to the exhaust which I am considering. You could check out frozen boost and fizzle. There are lots of possibilities. I have found a trove of options
