Has anyone here installed an aftermarket transducer in their late model 210 Challenger ? My boat came with a decent Garmin GPS/Finder but did not have the transducer installed. Would like to purchase and install one but looking for some advice from other Challenger owners first.
Thanks in advance for your help !!

We have the factory unit, so I don't have experience with an aftermarket install on our Challenger. I have installed one in our previous boat and it's pretty straight forward. You'll need to hook up everything loose so you can test the signal before you install things permanently.

You can test the sensitivity by placing the new transducer in the bilge inside a plastic bag filled with water. You can move the bag around the hull in various places to find the best spot with the least interference with the transducer signal.

Once you find the best location, clean it well and then glue the transducer to the hull.

Thanks JPass, what would be the best place to access the bilge area in our boats and have good hull access for testing ?

The factory placement of the transducer is on the port side of the engine compartment before the heat exchangers.

Anytime. Make sure you test it with the boat in the water. Preferably where you somewhat know the depth of the water.
