OK Guys, Finally pulled the boat for my slip last weekend to clean and inspect and found that beyond the normal green and brown scum on the boat hull, which Star Brite Hull Cleaner easily removes, that I had a weird growth on the propusion hardware. Upon closer I spection and some research, I was told by a boating friend that this sounded more like corrosion due to some stray current from some boat in the marina where my boat is docked. He said to check the Anodes so I am posting some pics of what I have e found and looking for advice on what type Anodes to re-install along with advice on how to repair and protect the hardware in the future. Should I just light sand and paint the damage and if so with what ? Any other treatment ideas ? Why didn't the installed Anodes work to begin with ? Are they worn out and how do I know ? Lots of questions I know but I know you guys will have the right answers for me. Thanks in advance !!

Anodes don't look bad. Maybe hit them with a wire brush or replace them all. There's 10 I think and each one is about $12.50 IIRC.

As for cleaning up the pump and brackets, you're going to have to hit them with a scotch brite pad, a wire wheel, or sandpaper and re-paint. I did the same to mine and used brake caliper paint as it's pretty durable and bonds well if the parts aren't perfectly clean. I'm sure there are other paint options, but that's what I used at the time.

The corrosion still comes back and we don't leave our boat in the water. In your case I guess you'll be doing this more frequently or you could try to powder coat them. Not sure how much that would cost or how long it would last.

A stray current from a nearby boat is definitely plausible as to what's accelerating the corrosion.

Anodes are fine and this is what happens when you leave a boat in the water. That's why I don't leave my boat in the water

I have to sand and repaint every year. no big deal, last year I replaced my venturi's. just the casualty of keeping it in the water.

this year I replaced anodes and sprayed everything down with fluid film and it seems to have stalled a lot of the corrosion I normally see.

I know the scarabs with the same pumps have anodes that are 1/3 the cost of finding seadoo replacements I'm not sure the difference but maybe someone else knows?

Thanks for the info JeffyP ! So from what you see in the pics it looks normal for about 3 months in the water ? And I'm not familiar with Fluid Film, is there a particular brand you suggest and does it just spray on or how do I apply it. Would certainly like to try that for the rest of the season and then sand/repaint during the winter. Thanks in advance for your help !

Thanks so much JeffyP, that's exactly the info I needed. I'll order some now and treat it before returning it to the slip. BTW, I used the Star Brite Hull Cleaner and it works amazingly well !
Thanks Again !
