I wanted to post this because I was searching for all the answers I'm about to share. First off I've been skiing at an advanced level for almost 20 years and and can do a course @ 32 mph. I do not compete so I never looked for a boat just for skiing.
How good is the hole shot with one ski? I've heard talk that jet boats don't have enough torque...that is simply bogus. At half throttle I'm up in 2 seconds flat! I weight in at 160 and have a fairly narrow ski. So power is not a problem.
Will the pylon hold up? I don't know about earlier models but this pylon took the abuse of my skiing and my 200+ pound brother who ski's as well as I do. I heard of people bending and pulling out their pylons; this has to be operator error.
While skiing does the boat stay straight? The pylon is located in front on the engine 1/3 from the back of the boat, which even with heavy cutting I don't feel skier pull at all.
The ride while skiing? The boat produces hardly any wake to throw off your balance. The only negative I have have to say is rooster tail if your directly behind the boat. If your a good skier most likely your not skiing on jet wash.
All in all, I do not regret getting a jet boat for water sports.
