2011 Challenger 180 SE Radio Hood

The compartment that stores the radio is annoying. The locking rails that "hold it open" really only keep it up about 2" when it locks up. Has anyone modded or replaced theirs? I was thinking about maybe attaching a hydraulic strut to it but wouldn't know what to use to latch it.

Couldn't fit more than a 5" TV in there anyway...mainly looking for a simple mod to hold door open though.
