Hey guys, I'm looking to upgrade the stock stereo on my speedster. I did some research and ordered 2 pairs of JL M770's. I also had an old JL Slash 300/4 Amp lying around, so I figured I might as well use it. I have a few questions regarding the install. Any help is greatly appreciated!

1. Where is the best place to install the amp? It's a car amp, so it's pretty large and I don't think I want to eat up all the space in the glovebox.

2. I'm worried about corrosion of the amp. Any recommendations on how to help prevent this? WD-40/Anticorrosive spray will do the trick?

3. What is a fair price for installing this equipment? I've been getting a lot of high estimates ( > $600) and am not trying to get ripped off.

I'd mount the amp in the same compartment as the radio (pull the water resistant bin and look down) but I doubt I'd use a car amp. Marine amps are corrosion resistant (and no, I don't know how they accomplish that or if you can easily make a car amp marine serviceable) and are warrantied in that environment. The install of the speakers shouldn't be that hard if the JL's are 6" round speakers. The rears would be plug and play and I'd mount the front ones on the flat walls just in front of the radio, one on each side. Use (or make) a template and cut carefully. Measure twice before cutting though......

I wouldnt use a car amp unless you dont mind it only lasting a season or 2 before you replace it. Why not save a ton of cash and do it yourself? Its really easy and you can learn everything you need here. If you were closer id do it for way cheaper than $600.
