2010 Sea Doo 210 Depth Finder Problems...

In my 2010 Challenger 210 the depth finder is very erratic, it will read VERY deep then very shallow and seems slow to react when it does have an accurate reading. I am very familiar with the lake I am on and know the depths. I have made sure it properly secured in the mounting and I have also replaced the gel pad between the hull and sounder unit. Any other suggestions? I have a similar depth finder in my 2012 RXPX and it works flawlessly.

Any help or thoughts before I go out and buy a new $250 sounder?

gb, did you every figure anything out? My 2010 230 wake depth finder has been acting up this summer as well, don't know how much to trust it. Replacing just the sending unit isn't too bad, about $160 plus the labor to do it if that's the only issue.

Seems to work ok.... The new gel pad now seems to have helped but there are still times it goes crazy going between actual depth and well over a 100ft. Im gonna look at it more when I winterize it. Seems to me there is too much of a gap between the hull and sounder.

How does your sending unit work? Mine goes through the hull like this, there's no part number listed for a gel pad.

I just looked at a parts diagram and see the 210 uses a different sending unit than the 230. That's why I was confused.

That's kind of surprising, I would have figured they would be the same or similar. I was excited to hear the price you found on the sounder looks like they are very different....

Yeah not sure why they'd be different. Mine actually has a hole drilled through the hull with the sending unit being installed from the bottom side of the boat with a nut on the inside. That's the biggest reason I haven't pulled mine out, I'm leery about not getting it sealed up properly again!

I suspect Sea-Doo's Airmar In-Hull transducer is the same used by Garmin depth sounders. I'm hoping to connect them. Since I already have a Garmin on board, it would be awesome to record the depths along my route.

Did you ever find out if they connect? The airmar and garmin head unit?

I'm not pursuing this myself unless I buy a Sea-Doo boat that has one already. If you look in the Garmin catalog the Sea-Doo transducer looks exactly like the one in the Garmin accessories catalog.
