Good morning everyone.
I’m looking at purchasing a Seadoo and one of the ones at the top of my list is a 2010 GTI SE 155 with 100 hours and owned by seniors.

Its in near new condition but I have read a lot on this forum and elsewhere about the drive shaft in 2009 / 2010 being defective and seadoo corrected it in 2011.

My question is, is the driveshaft problem for all models from 2009 / 2010 or just specific models?

Also, what happens when the shaft fails? Does it just fail to produce thrust or does it damage the motor as well? More a question of if I buy it do I just ride it and if it fails then replace or is it something that should be replaced proactively?. What would this cost? I’m Canada for reference.

Thank you.

There are 2009/10 155 and 215 driveshaft replacement kits on EBay for $469 US. The driveshaft splines at the impeller strip causing a loss of torque and a tow in. The driveshaft and carbon seal are pretty much routine maintenance every ten years especially in salt water.
