2010 GTI Float ring and carbon seal upgrade help

Hi all. First post here and looking for some guidance.
I have two 2010 GTI seadoos that run great but one of them recently had a little water in the hull and looks Iike from what I see the carbon seal is leaking ever so slightly. Both skiis have around 140 hrs and they are original so I’m sure they have never been changed. I found out that I have the threaded float ring ( not the c clip) so I bought the tools to remove the shaft ( the wrench and the spine socket).
I can’t find the float ring anymore as they are discontinued so I decided to bite the bullet and upgrade the driveshafts. Looks straight forward enough and I have the shop manual but have a few questions before I dive in.

1. Do I have to drain the crankcase of all the oil before I pull the shaft and PTO seal off ? New kit comes with both.
2. Has anyone updated their driveshafts with one of these kits (going from the threaded nut to a c clip)?
3. What are some of the gotchas that I’m not thinking about? Alignment tool?

I really don’t want to pay a dealer to do both skiis if I can avoid it

Thanks in advance !

1. No, it won't leak oil.
2. Kit has everything you need except for the driveshaft.
3. Pretty straight forward, you don't need any special tools. To remove driveshaft, with a brass chisel, tap on the bearing while someone is pulling outward with medium force.
