Just bought the boat. Great first outing and first in the water it was shifting fine went out for maybe 1.5-2 hours and when I got back to take it out if the water it wouldnt shift out of forward and I didn't wanna try and crank on it. Turned the boat off and got wet and pulled it into the trailer.

Looking for some advice or options on a fix. Not sure on the names of parts yet the reverse gate is still up so it stuck in forward

Thanks in advance

Disconnect the linkage at the rear bucket and see if you still have the problem. If you do, then it's not the rear bucket mechanism and is more than likely the cable. Before swapping the cable, disconnect it from the shifter and ensure the shifter moves freely once the cable is disengaged. If it does, then it more than likely is the shift cable. Once it's disconnected from both sides, confirm it doesn't move by pulling on it from either end to see if there's movement or not.

The pin fell out of the clip the keeps it all the way up and it was jammed in forward. Took it off and now just going to get a new pin and clip thanks all.
