Does anyone know when the 2009 Sea doo line up will be out? I heard that it will be out this Saturday Sept. 6th. Is this true? I want to see the new RXT-X.

are they gonna change the RXTX again? this one is new for this year, what else can they do other than add options and drop the price?

I'm not sure about seadoo changing the RXT-X. How could they make it any better? I have not ridden one but they still must be the best. I want one, but I want to see the new colors for '09. I have a '04 GTX now that is bright yellow. The gun metal gray is a bit dull.

2009 Models..........

The 2009 models will not include the RXP. It's going to be phased into their newest venture with Lockeed Martin like Bombardier did with the (then) new model boats that carried the Mercury M-2 engines.

The combined work of the TDP and the TDX models are to incorporate the Lockeed Martin Lycoming 1470 horse power gas turbine. It's a small gas turbine and will take up less engine space and easier to maintain.

The special features are a boost button on the left handle bar that will ignite afterburners, that will carry you up to speeds in excess of 100 mph. It will be equipped with a parachute in the rear, that will deploy if the gyroscope detects a yaw of more than 40 degrees, that will right back up and slow the ski to 30 mph before it automatically detaches. The front of the ski will be equipped with air spoilers that will open at 70 mph and adjust accordingly to the lift of the front end, also controlled by an onboard gyro, feeding the air to the turbine engine for high speed combustion.

The gas turbine will be shafted to your pump during normal operation but when the boost of the afterburner is ignited, your thrust will be 100% jet nozzle blast. So, they will come with a warning, not to light the afterburner until up to speed and well away from other riders.

The onboard communications of the engines health and performance will be relayed via a headset you'll be wearing inside the specially equipped helmet, which is part of the DESS system to ensure, you are not riding without it.

This new ski is going to be the wave of the future, hitting speeds that only the most serious modder has ever dreamed about. So get your checkbooks ready because the price tag will be $272,000 dollars. But that comes with a full tank of gas..................

Now I hope those who read this, realize it's a joke. Bombardier has no plans to use a gas turbine engine. But now, if you give me one, I've got an extra hull and would love to give it a try!..............:cheers:

I actually like the colors on my RXTX, yellow is a bit LOUD! :)

No doubt the 08 RXT-x color is great, and the yellow is loud. I just think it needs a little more color.

I stopped by my local dealer when I was on my ride today and he said the new line will be out on Friday. He is going to Texas to see it on Friday and it will hit the web on Saturday. New things may be like a all new hull, a suspension seat, and the 255 in more boats. I may just have to wait to see the 09's before I buy.

Joking........

No, I'm not interested. I was only making a joke. I did it before about a year ago, just to see what the response would be.

In the Navy, I attended a GSM (gas turbine machinist) school, to cross over from my present field of educatioin (turbine engines) to the GSM...., so while I could get an engine and apply it to that application, it truly isn't effective in a ski.

Just to say, I did it, would be cool, but the directional torgue would be horrible unless you attached a gear box that had a shaft, to counter rotate the spinning direction of the turbine.

But you must admit, it'd be cool!..........

would it sounds like jet engines on fighter planes? That would be cool, but would also have jet lag. like the bike, Y2K is called I think. sounds so awsome, imgaine sitting in traffic, nice summer people have their windows down and all of a sudden this jet noise, whooosh....awsome

yes it would be cool, its too bad, i'd like to do it myself but dont have a spare hull right now. do you really think the torque would be that significant on such a small gas turbine. our intent is to start and run it on LPG, once the rmp is stable lite off a kerosene injected afterburner... any ideas?

Miss Budweiser?.....

Look at Miss Budweiser. She's gas turbine. What I wrote, was a joke. It really wouldn't be feasible to put this type engine in a PWC. You would have to gear it by prop. It could not run off pure thrust, like an aircraft would. The centrfugal force of the rotation of the turbine would toll the ski at higher speeds. YOu may find a way to counter that.

But like the other point that was brought up, is jet lag. It takes a turbine a few minutes to wind up. You sure wouldn't win any races off the line. It would be cool to build it for show. The sound of a gas turbine has that huge, powerful sound that makes heads turn.

But in reality, I don't think we would see something like this anytime soon....

i understand it was a joke. just curious about possible applications. seeing as a few of us are actually building a small one, never intended for a watercraft. i understand the torque aspect, ive had about 4 years of dealing with turboprop engines on c-130s. thanks for the insight. and yes it would be very cool

ACTUALLY, miss budweiser is not a turbine boat, miss geico is the only boat running turbines, budweiser has fully custom one off supercharged motors

thats all i have to add....

yep gas turbined are more power full

and did you practice with NOS fuels....

that is more effective and powerful than turbine

any ways all the best for your troop:hurray:

Miss Budweiser...

Chris, I beg to differ with you here. I started watching hydrofoil racing back in the 70's, when all the boats ran the Allison, V-12 aircraft engines, including the Miss Budweiser. Then, most all in the unlimited class went to gas turbine, Miss Budweiser included (which has always been my favorite unlimited class boat, Dale Sr. my fav Nascar driver {who is no longer with us}). They have the turbines geared to props. They don't run off the thrust like a jet aircraft. They have a specialized air induction system that keeps water spray from entering the compressor. I've attached 2 pix of the Miss Budweiser and one of the older hydrofoil Allison engines.

As for the gas turbine bike, Jay Leno actually owns one (for those that don't know, Jay writes for PM on automobile reviews, of his cars mostly. He has one of the original steam powered cars too). It's more a novelty than anything else. I saw him ride it on t.v.and although it has a high top end speed, he said the same as we all have, the lag in time that it takes to wind up is a real disadvantage. There is also a pix of the gas turbine bike, but I don't think this one is Jay's........

Enjoy the pix.....
