Guys,

Does anyone know exactly whats new for 2009 on the Challenger 180?

A Dealer I just spoke with says they revised the hull somewhat and the interior is new. The Seadoo website only says "All new fit and finish".

Besides the colored hull sides what exactly is new?

Craig

The ones I saw at the boat show (they did not have the 180 there) did have much nicer fit and finish compared to previous years.

Other than that I think it is just the obvious things like the new colors, the 255hp, and more speakers for the stereo.

I saw one at the dealer not long ago. Other than the engine option the only thing I saw was the paint in the gelcoat (vs stickers) and two more little speakers up front in the bow. Not much has changed at all. I remember thinking good nothing significantly different or better than the '08s. (I think it had two more speakers, It's been a while)

The dealer said the hull has more running surface for 2009 providing a better ride. He said the difference is under the swim platform. he also said they upgraded the Vinyl quality significantly. Snap in mooring covers standard. Sales pitch????

Craig

From what I saw, I would definitely agree on the quality of the Vinyl. As for the snap in mooring covers that should be just on the SE. I had a snap in bow cover made for my Utopia, and it was the best two hundred dollars I ever spent. It makes cool days much more enjoyable when you put the bow cover on and close the windshield.

Have you actually gone to the dealer to have a good look at one in person? Personally I like the new color choices and if I was in the market, would most likely only look at the 09s (and the 255hp). May as well get all the bells and whistles if you are going brand new.

I forgot they now offer snap on coverings for the interior on the SE model. For some this may be a good thing. For me, I'd rather have a full cover. When I'm not in the boat I use a full cover that protects everything from the rub rails up. With the snap on covers it only protects the vinyl and interior from the sun and maybe rain (hard rain is still going to get in). I suppose this could be a good thing for some people that don't want to use a full cover, just not so much for me.

I didn't see any difference in the vinyl at all. Maybe they changed it but if so it wasn't enough for me to notice. It was even the same pattern and coloring (if memory serves). You piqued my interest though. May have to run up there just to satisfy my curiousity :)

I guess I should say, yes the '09 does have some small upgrades that are nice. I don't see them being worth the premium over overstocked '08s though unless you upgrade to the 255hp BIG BOY motor!

Robert,

This stuff was what I was told my a dealer. Take it for what its worth. I sure wish we had some BRP insiders active in these forums to provide insite like this.
