2009 230 SE Gross weight - who's right manual or website

Seadoo website states: 2009 230 Challenger SE: (on trailer) 5233 lbs
The 2009 manual that came with the boat states: 230 SE Gross weight (on trailer) (4420 lb).

Who's right? I'm trying to settle on an SUV to tow this boat and I can determine what is the proper weight to make sure the towing capacity of the vehicle is adequate (assume that i'm purchasing the standard trailer that SeaDoo provides with the boat).

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

I would think the book is right. I don't think the it's a 5200# boat.

I re-read your post... so I checked it out.


The boat dry (on the trailer) is 3500# and it has a 2000# capability, so I guess it could be 5500#, but you aren't going to be trailering it with 12 people in it, and loaded full of gear. And... because of that, they call it 4420# gross on the trailer. That would cover fuel, oil, and normal gear.

Thx for the prompt response. We'll probably go with a 4500# capacity SUV (or higher).
