don't know if I can tell you the real top speed of the 255hp, but I can probably get pretty close. I had the 215hp version and on a calm lake day with 2 people on board, light gear, half tank of gas, total weight of about 425lbs, we hit 52mph on magellan GPS. I'm sure in those conditions with the 255hp you will probably be in around 56mph.

I think I'll have to :agree: with Mike. When you compare the two supercharged motors, you pretty much can count on their speeds being comparable, it's the speed in which they get to top end that the extra horsepower gives you. You might get a couple miles per hour.

I have never understood this fasciation people have with top end speed. Honestly how often do you speed around at full tilt? and how often are conditions good enough that you really can? I'll take a nice fat mid range for pulling tubes/boards anyday, over a top end you'll really never see. Just IMO of course.

sc vs non-sc

I have 08 speedster w 155 n/a and have hit 50 mph on gps....
grade 92 octane (1/2 gas tank), pulsar sparkplugs, calm water and by myself (200lbs).
No mod's just a couple of beers!!!!!!!!

where we go boating there is so much water that you can run WFO for miles,i will be there 90% of the time.so i will see top speed alot.i just bought the boat and have not run it yet.

I see top speed A LOT, that was actually a serious concern for me because when I go to Lake Shasta, several boats will caravan for up to an hour or to at 40 - 45 miles per hour for 1.5 - 2 hours to get to a different part of the lake... My sportster will probably only hit 40 with the 657x, so that was/is a concern to me...

I see a bigger boat in your future. I couldn't imagine running across the lake for 2 hours in our speedster WOT. I think you'll find that the ride can become rather uncomfortable in such a small boat.

This is my bigger boat, lol. I used to do it on a 2000 Polaris SLH 2 seat waverunner. That was not comfortable, because in order to maintain that kind of speed, you have to stand the whole time.

My '08 215hp was radared at 55.2 mph on the Colorado River near Laughlin Nv. My neighbor is a volenteer with the Bullhead City Police Dept river patrol.

As was said before by many, the blower won't change the top speed that much, but the time from standing still to WAHOO speed is much quicker. I also agree with others about top speed. If I wanted to go slower I would have bought a pontoon boat.

My 215 SCIC with a cold air intake does 55.7 with 2 people in it. GPS numbers not speedo. Probably a mile or two better on a glassy day.
