Have a new 08 Speedster with 430hp engines. While in neutral, the boat still moves forward. We have to move the lever part way toward reverse to get the boat to stop moving. Also, While in forward with the engine speed as slow as it will go, we still make a wake and get yelled at all the time. Both engines at 2000 rpm. Is this high? Our big boat idols at a much lower rpm.

Is this all normal for this boat? It will be going in for it's 10hr service in 2 weeks, we can have it looked at then.

Hello,
it's normal that the engines are idling at 2000rpms on neutral.
Did you own a jetboat before purchasing the Speedster? If not. All jetboats and skies move forward in the neutral position.
The engine is directly connected to the impeller/s with the drive shift.
The lever (fwrd/neutral/reverse) controls the bucket/s behind the pump and not the gear of the engine.

Yes it nudges forward, it is getting used to it and learning to 'hover' it. Bad thing is you just can't have some one jump in and drive, especially slow speeds and docking. I have been Air Horned and flipped off about wake and the 2000 RPM thing too, especially when the boat is loaded.

I have a speedster also.....and yes it don't stop movn. Don't worry u should have it down no time. That is funny though, it seems not to many people know about the boats that keep movn! It is my first boat and by the 3rd time I could manu pretty well. As for the wake I've had 1 guy throw his hands up:hurray:

Thanks for all the info. We came out of a 99 speedster and it did not move much at all in neutral and it never seemed to make a wake when idoling. I know these engines are much more powerful, so we thought that may be the cause. Guess it is. Have fun boating this year. Yippie!!!!!!
