2008 seadoo utopia 205 310 hp "throttle problems"

My jet boat is a 2008 Sea Doo Utopia 205 SE 310 hp. I got it last year and had no problems all last year. Not sure why but last week, May 2009, when I got in the water my throttle adjustments seemed all wrong. I have a new 2009 mechanic that I am quite happy with this year but we spent time yesterday and could not fix it. The problem all seems to be in the cable adjustment stemming from the throttle. My hunch is that when I took it to my dealer for the 2008 postseason checkup, they did something that must have changed things. Also they are no longer in business so I cannot go back to them

Here are my symptoms:

- first of all , all directions on the throttle, ie forward + (but mostly) :(neutral + reverse were very stiff. The boat seems to run fine but there are hard parts in the throttle forward. actually 90% of the problem seems to be the almost stuck reverse. it moves back only with lots of effort and technique. Feathering back is impossible .

- when reversing, it is almost completely stuck but will move back with effort. However then there is no reverse movement on the boat for the first two or 3 inches of reverse on the throttle and then it will quickly race backwards. As if both acceleration and reverse gates click in suddenly and all the way. open. This makes steering and docking almost impossible;

- now after having very carefully taken the throttle apart we found in the location of the throttle that the cable to the reverse gates when attached would tighten everything up causing the "stuck" feeling at the throttle;

- now, probably because we tried some adjustment, on having put the throttle back together, things seem to be quite out of alignment. First of all the same real stock feeling is there. That familiar "click into neutral" when the throttle lever is vertical is not at all line up with the starter so that I cannot start when in the new for position. I have to reverse the throttle to get to some unmarked place so that the engines will start. And of course the same problem and reverse continues where it is so hard to get in reverse that once I do get into it the boat jumps backwards with too much acceleration.

The problem I have is that my dealer where I bought the boat who was also a full-service jet boat repair shop went broke. I am quite happy with my mechanic who is very knowledgeable but we still seem to be stuck.

Does somebody know a simple step-by-step approach to get the reverse gate cable or other cables in the location of the throttle properly aligned? Maybe there is only so far that we can go in the location of the throttle and will have to pull the boat and look at the mechanics of the reverse gates to see if there is some place there that also needs to be adjusted. And of course for me it gets really compensated because this stuff is all connected to the accelerator.

I will appreciate any help you can give me. Is this something that I should bring to the attention of the technicians and get the premier membership?

I had a similar problem when I got my boat back this spring - virtually impossible to get in to reverse and in the first 1/3 of forward, if you took your hand off the throttle it would pop back to neutral. I'm no mechanic so I took it to the dealer that winterizes my boat and now it works fine. The mechanic said they loosened the cables and it is now easy to put in reverse and no longer pops from forward back to neutral. I believe they also cleaned out and loosened the bearings on the reverse gate. I had also found a link that discusses the stiff throttle issue: http://seadoosportboats.com/index.php?showtopic=1815

On my 2008 200 speedster I lubricate the reverse gates after each use. I spray lots of wd-40 and silicone on the gates and all the linkage to prevent problems...The control linkage and cables usually never have a problem, but the reverse gates/ buckets are in the water and can corrode and get stiff.
