I recently just got a brand new 2008 RXP 215 S.C. seadoo. I was curious as too how i should break this new ski in?!? I'm only 17. My parents just bought this ski. I am paying them back monthly. I am new too having my own ski. Just looking for any suggestions, or what previous or current owners of RXP's have done for the first 10-20 hours. Thanks and any help is greatly appreciated!!

i just got the same ski this year and took it out and ripped it on and off to seat the rings properly...didnt drive it like a stole it but i really got on it i didnt baby it like everyone says to..you have a very short period of time to properly seat the rings of a new motor so the break in is crucial. After i got my ten hour service i have been driving it like i stole it. have 17 hrs on it after this weekend and no problems yet..my oil still looks like it came straight out of the bottle after every ride.

Ok that helps alot. I've heard from some people that you can't go over a certain rpm. Also I understand that you can't keep it at a certain speed for very long. So what you guys are saying is to get on the throttle for a little, then let off for a little? Sorry I am new to breaking in a new ski. Also what does seating the rings mean?

you have to properly seat the rings around your pistons inside the cylinder walls. When your piston rings are properly seated your motor will burn very very minimal amounts of oil almost not noticeable. A properly broken in motor will have the best output of raw power in the end. the day i got on my ski i had it up to full throttle. here is an article i read that is the way i broke in my ski according to. http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm
