Here is my experience with my 2010 Speedster. I also thought the fuel gauge was broken as it seemed to always read full. I would fill my tank and boat around for a few hours and it would still read full. I would fill up and then repeat the process. I removed the float sending unit from my tank and installed a new one. I then realized that the way the float is set up it essentially reads full until I get to half a tank or so then it drops at a relatively normal rate. I suggest you boat around, look at your fuel tank and make note if the gauge starts to move when you are at about half a tank.
