Hey Guys, new owner here and lots of questions. I'll post them separately in case they can help other new members. I've searched the forum before posting - I hope I didn't miss a similar post!

What is the function of the foam block in the engine compartment? Is it just buoyancy, and should it just be sitting in there, not permanently mounted?

Thanks a lot~!

Hi SL, it's hard to see the foam block in your photo, so I suspect like mine it's a block of black foam?

The foam blocks are for bouyancy, they are supposed to be glued into place but the glue fails over time... actually I think the foam breaks away from the glue. I took mine out last time I worked on the engine... I have not bothered putting it back, I suppose it depends on your risk appetite

Thanks RowdyRod~!

My foam is kind of yellow colored but it has the black "egg carton" material on it. Thanks for letting me know, I'll probably just let it ride for now.

Thanks again~!
