The other day i had my boat out and it was going fine out of the dock and in the water for a good 15 mins. I had stopped for a moment then when i went to take off again when i put the throttle above half way or so it sounded like the engine was going to blow up it was so loud and the rpms jumped up to the 7.6 8k rang all the way up. I was able to cruise back to the dock going about 5 - 8 miles an hour or so and checked it out to see if sea weed was stuck in it. Although there was some sea weed in it i pulled it out and took it home. Once home i got under it and looked into the in take and did not see any thing in there so i hooked the water hose up to it and tried starting it again and it still was acting the same way. I've owned it from the start and have not had this problem before. last summer it did take on huge amounts of water that caused the engine to flood during a storm but i took it into the shop they serviced it and said every thing was fine and not rusted as i got it there in time. I've had it out about 6 times this year. The first 2 times i took it out after being winterized it would drop its load it seemed for a bit until i let it sit in idle for 10 mins or so didn't know if it had to burn out the stabilizer or what? Again that had never happened in the past either. Any ideas on what this new problem could be>?

Had the same thing happen today... Went over an average sized swell and then the engine sounded a bit off and wouldnt go past 10 mph. When you try to gas it does it act like a car does with a slipping clutch and just jump in rpm and not go anywhere?

Well nvm I was on the boat when I posted. Got it up on the trailer and found the culprit. Turns out the grate that is supposed to block sticks and stuff from getting sucked up broke off and got sucked up.......New impeller and wear ring coming this week!
