Just purchased a 2008 Speedster 215hp and out wake boarding we got the code for exhaust overheat. Boat went limp and steering gone. Not enough thrust for turning. When contacting dealer, he said it could be checked at 10 hr check.

In reviewing all the forums for the last few hours, I did not see alot in this area except for problems with Prep & loose clamps.

Has there been alot of reports of limp mode, low thrust, & no steering in an over heat/exhaust code situation?

Dealer now!

I don't know how many hours you got on this thing but it needs to go to the dealer now!.......and they need to honor their sale to you. If not, I'd be getting a lawyer. You paid way to much money to be treated like this.

Your problem is indicative of the open loop cooling system not operating properly. This cools the exhaust and directly affects the performace of the engine and if continued to operate in this condition, will cause terminal engine failure.

This is what gets me on my soap box. A dealer that made a butt load of money off you and is un-willing to stand behind his sale!....

I gotta shut up now before I get hot around the collar. He's screwing you! You tell this guy to come into the forum and I"ll point it out to him in black and white in our shop manual that your problem can be fatal to that engine!

Ok - So we had the boat hooked to the BUDS and got a read out. It says that after 5hrs the exhaust over heat showed 11 times and is still active. No seaweed anywhere.

BUDS also said no limp mode. But manual says rmps go down to 2500 automatically and then there is no steering available to move boat.

What are the odds the BUD report is incorrect? or the EMC is screwed up. No one seems to be able to read the report anyways and dealer claims no manual. they can not even tell us when these codes popped up. We have 8 hours on boat.

Dealer....?

You need to talk to this dealer, that sold you this boat one more time. Tell them that if the results from them aren't in your favor, you'll be in contact with the main branch of BRP Seadoo online. They will take your complaint and either get that dealer to take care of you or they will transfer your warranty to another dealer service center.

If this dealer is unable to read the BUDS report, then they are not qualified to even hook up the VCK. The chances of the BUDS software being bad is slim. But, the chances that they dialed in the wrong info program for your model and engine type is high!.....This takes human interface and from what your saying, these guys shouldn't even be licensed to have the software!

I'll be back to edit this shortly for a contact with BRP....or a link.

Here's a link to one of the threads currently being discussed about dealers screwing over their buyers......check it out. http://www.seadooforum.com/showthread.php?p=55993&posted=1#post55993 You can PM TV or Craig and I'll bet they hook you up with one of the contact numbers they have for Seadoo BRP....

How do I check if they dialed in the wrong info program for your model and engine type? A
After doing a little more reading, is there a chance one big problem is the cluster gauge? Would the cluster gauge also give false readings for the buds regarding speed, rpms, intake, etc.?? also, on the Buds - what does TPS (Deg) stand for?

Did you buy this boat as brand new from the dealer?? If so, as seadoosnipe stated...you should raise living shit that you want the boat fixed ASAP and whatever parts replaced under warranty or give you another boat!!
