A local dealer has a sale running till the end of the month on all Seadoos. They still have a 2007 sitting there and are asking $12, 881 which includes trailer, cover, 5 year warranty and a full tank of gas. Sounds like a good deal to me that I am contemplating jumping on. I believed I read on here, can't seem to find exact info I'm looking for, that the washers were ceramic and junk and pretty much a guarantee for failure. The salesman said 2007 on up were fine and had the updated washers. I think I saw otherwise on here. I've been towed in enough times with my old boat and not looking forward to it happening soon on a new one. I was thinking if I go with the boat that I could have them replace the ceramic washers at the 10 hour break in. I'm sure this is covered under the warranty but would like to see the problem taken care of before it happens. Any info is appreciated guys. I'm running out of time to jump on this deal. thanks

I thought the 2008's has the steel washers. If you buy that boat be sure they will replace the ceramic washers ASAP. I may be proven wrong here but I'm pretty sure that 2007 will have the Ceramic washers.

What happenes at failure? you would know with the speed and rpm that something is wrong before it blows the motor right? thanks!

PUT THE BOAT in the water, it started normal, ran at idle for 2 min, ran at full throtle for 1 min. back to idle for 30 sec, started to implode, heard grinding / wear noise at idle and it locked up. total failure. love warranty - not so happy with the BRP engine design team.

2009 speedster 150 pay big at 100 hours

dropped off my 2008 speedster to have the motor replaced under warranty this morning, service tech said that 2009 and newer supercharged motors will require the customer to pay for a 100 hour SC rebuild since SEA-DOO knows that it is gonna fail. Cost is 8 or 9 hundred bucks. will not be covered under any warranty.

why dont you like the seadoo motor it the best out there, yamaha has the SAME problem with there superchargers and kawi has problems with theres aswell. and the 100hr SC rebuild sevice has been around since 2003 when the first seadoo sc craft came out. your dealer is bullsh!ting you. and 8-900buck for a rebuild is a rip off. should be $400 tops. Not being rude but you have been told alot of miss information. Yes seadoo knows it will fail cause its a wear item, There no other way to do the supercharger it need a way to release the torque when you come unhooked from the water. Ther need to be some kind of give there. The slip for the washers should be checked every 25hrs. Dealer should also check the slip when you take it in for the 10hr service and ajust it if needed. Sorry to hear about your boat hope they get it fix quick with out to much hassel.

Joel,

Every 100 hours your supposed to do a complete rebuild. I think the parts alone are nearly $300. with labor at about $90/hour I'm sure your looking at at least three hours if not more.

Correct sc need complete rebuild every 100hr's. Shouldnt take longer then an hr for a qualified tech to do a rebuild. Guy i know charges $75 labor + the parts for a complet rebuild and is one of the best in the biz and will guarantee his work.:cheers:

Rebuild kit $298
labour $75

Total = $364
