Hey guys, I've got a 2007 RXT, that I bought new. It has 120 hours on machine had no major problems till today. was out riding playing a little hard on the water and I noticed a loss of power and a maximum of 6500 RPM and top Speed drop to about 53 MPH.not sure where to start looking for the problem it sounds like the supercharger, but I Had steel washers put in the SC before I had 50 hours on it because of the problems I've heard with the ceramics ones. Your input would be very much appreciated. thanks,

Generally, you will lose 20 to 25 MPH when the SC fails. Remove the SC hose and see if you can move the wheel with your fingers. It should be VERY hard to do so. If it is easy, it has failed. Check all SC hose connections and hoses. If any are cracked or off, same type of issue will exist.

Thanks, for the info will check all those things out.
Question, Even with steel washers installed can they still fail with that low of hours on the machine? And if I find out it has failed. Do you think I need to worry about anything getting into the motor.

Not just the washers fail, the bearings do and the slip clutch can wear as well. You have 60-ish hours on it, it should not have failed. But anything is possible,,, It does happen. In your case, check out the hoses and clamps well. Look for water in your oil and the inside of the InterCooler hoses. The IC may have gone bad.

OK will do thanks, i'm not really familiar with IC How would I know if it is bad. And are you saying if there is water in my Oil it is because of the ic? And where exactly is the IC located

They are known to crack. When they do, the SC will suck water in and push it to the intake and the engine in general. The water gets into the oil at that point. So take a look at your oil and see if it is milky.

OK, I just pulled the hoses on the SC and it's spins pretty freely with one finger not loose but spins pretty free with maybe a little resistance not much. Both hoses have a little oil in them. No signs of water in the oil. Now if it had steel washers in the SC do you think I need to worry about anything making it into the engine.

If your bearings didn't fail your engine is fine. That's what the filter is for. Rebuild the SC and change your oil.

Got it thanks, so if I pull it apart and see that the bearings did fail. Are you saying you think the filter would catch that or I would have to worry about stuff in the engine. Is it pretty complicated to rebuild it yourself. I've watched a few videos on rebuilding them. I feel I am pretty mechanically inclined but no means a mechanic. I have also thought about sending it in to get rebuilt by PWC Muscle for 500 bucks

If the bearing cage failed and bearings are in the pan? The motor needs pulled. If everything is in tact and they are NOT ceramic washers, you should be good to go. Rebuild it now and change the oil and filter.

Just pulled it, all bearings look intact. I thinking I will send it off to get it rebuilt so I know it's done right i'm a little nervous about pressing in those bearings I don't have the right tools to do that. What's your opinion on that? There was some very fine shavings in the filter though not much at all I'll send a pic with this which shows the worst finn on the filter. most all the other finns were clean. Do you think that is going to be an issue I really don't want to pull the motor :( image.jpg
Hope this works never tried to attach a picture before.

Send it out. Tools will cost
to much to justify the expense of doing it yourself as they are special and specific.

This site does the rebuilds. $450 I think and that includes return shipping, all OEM and updated parts.

Thanks,Really appreciate all your help on this. Last question,What do you think about the shavings in the oil filter?
