2007 GTi Oil question

So I'm reading the manual and it say's don't use a synthetic oil? That doesn't make any sense to me. I was planing on using this

For it. Should I rethink it? or anyone have any suggestions?

This is the Mercury engine/pump section. I am not sure if anyone here knows anything about your engine.

So you're willing to risk ruining your engine to save $20? Why not use what the manufacturer suggests? The supercharged engines should never use synthetic oil due to the slip in the supercharger. Yours isn't supercharged and when the 4tec came out they did recommend and manufacture a synthetic oil for the NA machines like yours but now recommend a semi synthetic for everything.
