Thoughts.......GTI 130 2007

I have recently replaced a few sensors with a previous problem and ski ran well until I took it out today. I got out on the water for a couple hours and the ski just shut off while driving. Got it to restart and ran for about 10 minutes and shut off. Unable to restart on water and needed a tow. Got ski home and when key is engaged it chirps and no error codes. I Disconnected the battery cable for a few minutes reconnected and the ski starts with no issue and ran. I replaced the start/stop button, oil pressure sensor and a couple other ones as wel

I am thinking fuel pump or key post...

Thoughts?

What happens when you try to Restart? Does the start button work? Does it turn over but not start? If you pull the key and put it back on do you get any beeps?

Yes, i get the normal chirp with key attached. I replaced the start/stop button last week. When it is "dead" yes i get the normal chirps with the key when reattached.

When it stalled the first time it restarted. When it happened again, i was not able to restart and it did not attempt to turnover, however, with the key attached it does chirp. Once i got it home i disconnected the battery for a couple minutes and then i restarted it with no problem.

Need to understand the type and number of chirps as it helps to figure out if it is the key/post.

Normal Operation with a valid key:

1.. You put the key on the post and you should hear:
A: You should get a single beep acknowledging that a key is on the post.
B: You should hear the fuel pump prime.
C: You should get a short 2 beep acknowledging the key has a valid DESS code.

The start button should now be active to start the boat

If it will not start, I would short out the 2 posts on the solenoid to see if it actually can start and turn over. If it does, you have a problem between the start switch and solenoid.

I will check that out. Assuming that there is a problem between the start switch and solenoid, what would you think that I should start to look at then?

OK. when the key is attached I get 2 chirps. I always got that if I recall. Now I have another issue. It’s running and just shuts off and then it chirps 2 times and then restarts itself. I didn’t touch a thing. Once it shuts off and sits not running it chirps 3 times. Also, when I attach the key it chirps but when I hit the start stop button nothing happens, then if I try it again and hit the start stop it turns on. This is a new start stop

It sounds like to me it is the DESS Post. If it stops and then double chirps, it would seem that the key had been disconnected and reconnected.

Did this start before or after replacing the start switch?

I had multiple error codes and it seemed that I had the sudden shut down of the motor as well prior to the sensors being changed also when I attached the key last week when I pressed the start/stop I got nothing so assumed it was that and changed it. Now here a week later no codes anymore but the ski shuts off and restarts in its own. Kind of sounds like I removed the key and reattached it.

I would pull the DESS post and check the wiring. Follow it down to the ECU and check there for any corrosion.

Also check the grounds because maybe it is the ECU that I having the rug pulled from underneath it.

perhaps the ECU is bad? If so I believe that it’s an expensive fix?? Is there anyway of checking to see if it’s bad?
