My Challenger 180 (215hp) has been working fine, but today at the lake while towing 2 people noticed that couldn't get up to speed. I would accelerate the engine to 5,600RPM and then would "slip" (like a car with a bad clutch) and rev all the way to 7,000RPM. Couldn't pass 10mph. No check engine light, clean intake pump. I thought I had to much drag or weight so I dropped the tube and went with just the 4 passengers and the same thing would happen. Any ideas?

Tear down the pump and check the wear ring. If the wear ring is good then chances are you sucked something up and it fell out before you inspected it. Happens all the time.

What other parts do I need besides the actual impeller and wear ring? Seal, bearing, etc...

Can we get an update? My c180 255 pulls ok and I can get to 48 mph but I have to feather it past 6200 rpm. Even if I am on plan at 5800 rpm and Burt the throttle it still slips.

Went out this weekend with only one passenger and tried to do a full speed pass. At 7600RPM could only get to 42mph.

What were the weather and water conditions like. That boat with the 215 shouldn't do much more than that on GPS. If it was hot and humid with warm water your performance will be decreased.

Good flat waters. About 95 degrees. So that's Ok? If that's should be my top speed then I guess I'm good. I thought they could do up to 60?

No the speedster 150 with the 255hp engine can touch 60 in the right weather. Or maybe the speedster 200 510hp. I know the 430 can't
