2006 utopia intake problems

I was wondering if anyone has a fix for my problem. I have a 2006 utopia 205 SE. I use this in fresh water and my water intakes under the boat are constantly get clogged, so I lose power to that motor. Is there any type of cover so stuff will not get stuck so easy. PLEASE I NEED HELP WITH THIS.

What are you boating through that clogs you up all the time?

Realistically, you need to remember that you're driving a really big vacuum cleaner. If your water has lots of weeds, leafy plants, flotsam and jetsam, plastic grocery bags, etc. you are going to vacuum it right up. There's no good fix for that except cleaner water.

How deep is the water you ride in? The jet pump will suck up debris. Thats just how they work. If you suck something in through your grate, if its just something small, floating, it'll chew it up and spit it out. If your riding in fresh water that isn't very deep and has a lot of vegetation growing, then you'll always have this problem. You can't cover the intake grate because if you catch debris, then you can keep water flow to the engines cooling system from getting the needed flow to keep from burning up your motor.
