As per my previous thread...

http://www.seadooforum.com/showthread.php?p=97984#post97984

My MPEM looks to be blown. The dealership hinted (via something that BRP told them) that this is a common problem that could be mitigated by installing a better ground between the engine and the battery. Has anyone heard of this? Obviously I don't want to be replacing the computer very often, and would like to know how to keep my boat on the water and out of the shop!!!

I didn't get a response to my initial question, but I thought I would post an update.

Looks like the replacement MPEM has a different model number than the original part. In fact, it appears they have reverted to an MPEM from a 2003 GTX DI (this info is straight from BRP). The original part has been discontinued. From this, I assume that the original part is defective (or at least subject to premature failure). Anyone have any insight or knowledge on this? It would be helpful to post info for other possible 2006 Sportster victims.
