2006 sportster(155HP) starting issue

Hi Everyone,

first of all thank you all for looking at this thread and answering my question.
This is my first boat, end of last year I bought a 2006 Sportster(155HP) it was winterized and today I tried to start the engine by doing the following steps

- connect the fully charged battery
- connect a running garden hose at the back
- turn on the master switch
- when I plugged in the key, it gives a beeping noise, when I press the start button nothing happens and keep beeping
The beeping noise is three consecutive beeps and silent for about 5 sec and then continue.

Can you please help me to trouble shoot this issue?

Welcome to the forum Alan. Sounds like you got a nice boat, just gotta get it running again.

One of the biggest problems I've seen with the 4-TECs, that have set up through the winter months, or been out bouncing on the high seas of the Pacific ocean are the electrical connections. On the top of the motor, you should see a rectangular looking box. This is your ECU. Take that connector apart, clean it out and attach a bit of die electric grease to it. Then, make sure you get a good, snug fit. You can give it a try after that, but even if it starts, I'd recommend you go through as many of your 12 volt DC connectors as you can, protecting them with the die electric grease.

The 4TEC motor uses a lot of sensors, the ECU (electronic control module) and the MPEM (multipurpose module) and charging system components. If any of these wires have a loose or corroded connection, most times the ECU will not allow the motor a start.

So, check the big box on top of the motor first, make sure it's clean and gets a good fit, then check the others.

Also, check your fuse panel to make sure you have power to your modules..........

I will try your suggestions and let you know, the next few days it is going to rain in my area(Ottawa, Ontario) hope at some point the weather will clear ..
