Guys,

I have the typical oil pressure alarm on when I past 3300RPM on my Port engine. I swapped the OPS, same results. Swapped the ECMs... Alarm goes to the Starboard Engine. I'm waiting for my CanDoo PRO to show up and diagnostic it but, while I'm waiting. Any hope that I can only do a tune up; change oil and filter and clear the error code and be done with it or if I definitely need a new ECM???

Thanks for any inputs.

Is the oil pressure too high or too low? Have you checked your oil level? It should be right in the middle of the two bends on the stick. If the oil level is too high it can trigger an oil pressure/check engine light.

CANDoo Pro is in!!!

From where you're going, I guess you ruled out an ECM failure. The oil level is good, I got my CANDoo Pro today:thumbsup: and I'll test it and reset the code tomorrow and get back with results. I also want to do an oil change on both engines so I'll do this and make sure the levels are good also. I kind of ruled out anything wrong with the engine since, as I said in the initial post, by swapping the ECM the error change to the other engine. Am I out to lunch???

While the candoo scanner is a great investment it may not point you to the exact problem. I'm saying this because I've recently had oil pressure issues with a 4TEC 155. Here's what I learned ...

If you get oil alarm and are in limp mode. Engine won't go past 2000-2500 RPMs. Then you have a low oil pressure condition. It could be:

1. Rear OPS
2. Rear Oil Pump
3. Oil Pressure Regulator

If you get oil alarm and aren't able to go past 5000RPM then you have a high oil pressure condition. It could be:

1. Too much oil in system causing high pressure
2. Front OPS switch

The oil alarm isn't a code you can clear. It will show up when the fault occurs and basically when you reset the DESS key it gets reset. If it keeps coming back you have a problem.

Can you be specific as to what symptoms you are experiencing? That will help us get to the root of the problem.

Thanks BMANN06, BTW, we have the same boat and I'm in Kingston ON. on the rideau System... Anyways, I have the first symptom you mentionned. As per my 1st post, I swapped the sensors, same fault, then I did the ECMs and the fault went on the other engine. So, I didn't think the engine had anything wrong. But, this just made me think, it's late now but, tomorrow i'll try swapping the ECMs and clearing the fault. If the fault comes back on the "known good" engine, it's got to be the ECM. I replaced the oil/filters today and made sure the levels were good.

The CANDoo Pro is a cool toy but I wish it could test/diagnose the ECM. Anyone knows the easiest way to do that?

Thanks,

Update...

I swapt the ECMs, cleared the fault, and it's not coming back on either engines?!? Weard but, you know what, I'll take it while it lasts  I went out for at least an hour, took it easy at first then pushed it and everything is holding together...

I don't understand why but it worked. It's not like an ECM could be weak!?! To me, it's electronics, it's good or bad. It almost looks like/acts as if, the oil pressure cct on the "suspected" faulty ECM is weaker?!? Impossible too me, got to be the sensors but, once again, I swapt the sensors first and I still had the fault on same engine???

Anyways... Long story short;
I had an oil pressure fault,
- changed oil/filters and check levels: no go,
- swapt the sensors: no go,
- got my CANDoo Pro and cleared the faults: no go,
- swapt ECMs: fault followed to the other engine,
- cleared the fault with me CANDoo Pro, it works!!!

Thanks for the inputs,

I'll come back if/when the fault come back but, for now, I have fresh oil/filter, a spare sensor/switch, I only hope it's good for two weeks... Family coming over, need my toys working! ;-)

Now let get on that GTX starter... Yop, both my seadoos had issues, quite the timing! I was told I should get the starter by Wed max! Hoping!!!

Well... It's back!!! And I have a bad feeling it's the ECM... ;-(

Not sure if I should just replace it? I swapped them and it's following it again...

Any ideas to try before investing into a new ECM?

Guys,

it's been on and off and I found a used ecm(with VIN) on ebay. Just got it and I was wondering if anyone know how to reprogram it for my boat/key.

Since the boat is a twin 215;

Do I have to change the VIN# in the new/used ecm to match my boat's VIN?(can't do it with my ver. of the CANdooPro)

Or, just reprogram the current key for the new ecm? (but I'm thinking the key might not work for the other engine now...)

The reason I didn't try to reprogram the key for the new ecm yet is that it requires to use one of the CANdoo Pro licenses and I want to make sure that I don't "waste" one by having to got to the dealer to change the VIN anyways...

Thanks,

Here is the latest!

Got the new ECM working on my boat, just had to program my current key with my CANDooPro. It sucks that I had to use one of my license but i did have to drive to the closest BRP service place.

Went for a spin(~1hr) and everything seem to be good.

Thanks for the help.
