my overheat lamp comes on. i checked the engine coolant and it seems fine. checked the intake, its clear. although i lost some of the power. . could you help me out. . thanks

I believe on that model if you push the set button 5 times it will show you a code if it has one. It might be a bad temp sensor too.

there is a sensor in the jpipe that goes out sometimes might just make sure it is plugged in. A ristriction in the water feed lines will cause this too. do you have the factory intercooler?

Agreed......

:agree: You can also have a sticking thermostat. When you say you checked the engine coolant, what do you mean? The level? When you pull the cap off the coolant expansion tank, is there any pressure on it? There are several things that can make the 4-TEC run hot. Beside the idea of a bad sensor....the pressure cap, which is designed to hold pressure on the cooling system. By adding pressure, your increasing the boiling point of the liquid. WARNINGThis doesn't mean to pull the cap off a hot motor. You can burn yourself with the spewing liquid.

Your heat exchanger (ride plate) may have restriction in it or your water pump isn't working up to par.
