We just bought an Islandia with analog gages and for whatever reason(s), none of them work. the port tach makes a little jump when the key is affixed on the post. the gage lights all work. I do not get the two beeps when the key is installed but both engines start and run great. in fact, the only thing that gives me an aural warning is battery low. all four idiot lights flash continuously for both engines once they are started. the oil levels are up on both engines as well as coolant.

the boat only has 86 hours in total.

That sounds like fun with the electrical. First step, along with a charged battery, is pulling the codes. I'm curious to see what codes are set.

If you can access the back sides, check to make sure you have solid connections and no corrosion on any of the terminals. Be sure to check the grounds as well.

thank you guys for your responses.

the one thing we did not do was disconnect every ground, clean, and reinstall. we will do that first thing tomorrow.

today the boat developed an intermittent "no start" that seemed to get worse as the day went on. honestly, we spent the better part of the day working on that. did a lot of trouble shooting. we checked all of the fuses we could find in the engine compartment. i replaced 3 or 4 because they had the beginnings of corrosion on them. our first thought was the micro switches on the throttle quadrant. we were able to eliminate those. i took the switch all apart and cleaned it. we checked them for continuity and found they were serviceable. we put it back together with only an occasional start. i jumpered the wiring harness plugs to those mico switches and found that made no difference. with the key installed, there would be little click behind the dash when the shifter is in neutral. the next thing we looked at was the DESS post. i pulled this part off my other boat and found it made no difference. we will check all the grounds tomorrow, but is it possible that there is something wrong with the key?

i guess it really would help if the damn beeper was working to point me in the right direction.

we just checked the key's continuity and it reads about 15 ohms. i found some guidance on the forum saying that if the key is over ten, it is probably bad?
