Hello everyone, this seems like a great forum I just stumbled upon! I'd like some help figuring out my SeaDoo issue. Tonight I went out expecting to have some fun...but nope...got the SeaDoo off the trailer, pushed off the shore, connected the lanyard and no beeps, no start. The display does read "SeaDoo, Welcome Aboard" like usual, the display comes on, etc...but NO beep, no beeps to start, etc. Also, normally it will show how much fuel I have on the guage and everything looks normal on the display except no fuel bars (when not started but the lanyard is connected). I have about 1/2 tank. Last time I was out on the SeaDoo 2 weeks ago it was fine, no issues at all. I know the battery has to be good b/c it stays on an automatic trickle charger most all the time so surely the battery is fine. Ideas? I also tried the learner's lanyard too to rule out my regular lanyard. I checked all fuses as well and they seem ok. I bought it new and am the only rider...I'm easy on it and don't run it hard. I've read some of the other posts on here about others not starting but is mine different in nature being a 4tec? Thanks a ton in advance.

I would check the battery connections. It could be that it isn't a good connection. Also I would double check that the battery is in good shape and isn't in need of another one. They can last some times 2-3 years but 1 bad cell will make all the difference in the world. also give the DESS lanyard a cleaning with soapy water. Don't use anything on it just clean it and let it go. The 4-tec engine is the top of the heap even as we speak. It is the best that seadoo has and is very dependable. Keep us posted and if you still have questions, or it hasn't solved the problem give us a shout back.

Thank you for a quick reply...I will do what you said tomorrow and also purchase a new battery. The date on the battery is January 2006...so it's 2.5 years. I can at least rule out the battery. Is it ok to have the battery on an automatic trickle charger while it is connected to the SeaDoo or should I disconnect it each time after I use it to have it charge in the garage?

I prefer to disconnect the battery from the wiring so as not to have a change of a power serge to the MPEM,( Multi Purpose Electronic Module) and cause electronic problems. Never use a "jump box" to start the seadoo, for the same reason. If you gonna get a new battery bring the old one along to have it tested. they shouldn't charge you for the check....Try Auto Zone for competitive prices.

Battery did the trick...next time I'll know :) Thanks for the help! Now time for an oil change...is it ok to run synthetic in it? It has 85 hours on it...and what's the best type oil for this model? What about an oil filter recommendation? I've not used synthetic in it since new so is it worth switching now to synthetic? Should I do the coolant now as well? It's two seasons old, has 85 hours on it. If so, what kind is best? Oh, and what's it take to be a premium member here....?

I'm glad the battery did the trick. the premium membership is a great idea. here is some info on the oil also. Changing the oil on a 4-tec engine…all models
Here is the info on the oil change. If you still need info let me know. I own a 200 speedster 310 hp.
Here are the part numbers you need to change the oil and filter in ALL 4-tec engines.
(3) "O" rings
1)420320920-$7.25
2)420850500-$8.99
3)420950860-$2.20

Oil filter /I use a K&N off their website.
1)KN556-$12.95

Oil 10w40 Mineral Oil from seadoo#219700346-$6.50 a qt.
Be sure you use 10w40, marine 4 stroke Oil, with a API of SL, SJ or SN.
You need 3 L or 2.7 us quarts with filter for oil change.

Oil extractor from West Marine. Company Tempo, Part# 170200 Model# OB5 Retails about $50.00.
Change the oil when it is warm. Rev the engine to 4,000 rpm for 10 sec. and shut off at this rpm. This moves all the oil from the pto housing to the oil tank for maximum draining. Remove the oil filler cap and the dipstick. Insert the extractor tube in the dipstick 18.7 inches from the top of the dipstick pipe. Wrap tape around the tube to be sure it is in that deep. Next, extract the oil from the dipstick. (on pwc models only, the next step applies)When no more oil is extracted, pull the tube out of the dipstick hole and crake the engine(do not start) while the engine is in drown mode(fully depress the throttle lever, or on Jet Boats grab the throttle cable linkage at the throttle body and HOLD it open than crank the engine, get a friend to help)
Crank the engine for 10 seconds, Extract oil again, repeat crank extract 2-3 more times.
Keep track of how much oil you extract and add what you removed.

You will need a E-10 star socket or a 8mm(6pt) socket to remove the oil filter cap. There are 3 "O" rings in the filter cap area if they are damaged change them. Check level, and go have fun. I hope this info helps.

Oops! I almost forgot...If you want you could join as a "premium member". As a premium member you can down load a authentic seadoo manual from the seadoo manual library. In the library is a variety of manuals for almost all years and models. You can view as many as you like on line as a PDF file, or download it and print it for your personal and privet use. There are operator manuals and repair manuals for you to do your own repairs on your seadoo. The repair manuals have everything from troubleshooting, repair procedures to winterizing. It contains wire diagrams torque specs and pictures for disassemble and assemble instructions. In the spec sheets it tells everything needed to maintain oil changes, spark plug gaps, carburetor rebuilds and impeller wear ring tolerances. Click on the "Seadoo Manuals" link at the top of the page for more details. If you need any help or get in a jam, we are always here to answer your questions too.
