Flushing connector....?
The flushing connector should be on the upper left hand side of the pump casing. Some models provide a secondary connection inside the engine compartment.
When flushing this engine, the operators guide calls for a flushing time of 20 to 30 seconds. The 4-TEC should never be run more than 5 minutes because there is no cooling water on the drive line seal and the possibility of running the engine hot, without the ride plate in the water. The purpose of flushing the 4-TEC is to clean the exhaust system of salts and particles from the river, lakes or ocean that you rode in. Flushing the 4-TEC does nothing for the engine, since it's closed loop. When the engine is running, flushing the exhaust, be careful around the ride plate, it will get hot and you could burn yourself.
The water hose connection you've described sounds like it may be the outlet for the water hose. When you connect the water hose and turn it on, the city water pressure is greater than what the nozzle generates, so there is suppose to be a way to relieve that pressure, normally through another fitting.
Always start the motor before the water and shut the water off before the engine.....so you don't flood the exhaust system.
Good luck!.............
