Hi,

I am having a better year drain problem on my boat. I store it on land on the trailer with the battery switch turned off and the drain plug open and if the boat sits for about a week or more without being used I will either have a hard time starting the boat or it won't turn over. Battery has been replaced at the start of each year and I'm tired of buying new ones.

Any thought on what may be causing such a quick drain consistently?

Your automatic sump pump may be running. It is not wired through the battery switch and if the float switch gets hung, it will run constantly. I just bought a 2005 Speedster 200 and the previous owner had unplugged the pump because of that very reason. I will be replacing it with an identical unit, but I am going to make it a manual switched pump only.

My thought as well, if the battery switch is off nothing other than that will draw power provided no one over the years has messed with things. See if you can hear it running, most likely not as it's probably no good at this point but still could be drawing power.

If you leave your boat unattended in the water, I'd leave the configuration the way it is. You don't want a sudden downpour to sink your boat...
