After Finding out my boat has a bad engine and found NO replacement Ive decided to look into other options. After Some Research I found what I believe to be the best option and just wanted to share in case anyone is in the same position or can share any information.

I have a 2005 mercury optimax 250 that i found had a hole in the block, replacing just the block was ridiculously expensive and I couldnt find another engine. Ive talked to a few guys and found out that the all the 3.0 liters in this model year use the same crankshaft. I was able to locate a 06 Optimax 250 xs which was in good running condition and not too expensive. currently puting the engine together on the base and some minor touch ups and will be in stalled soon.

Wish me luck!

Im going to get it dropped in this week, as far as i know no one has done this yet, 04 I believe is a different engine, i think 2.5 so youll need to find a similar year 2.5 liter to get the same crank shaft,

Over the weekend I got it installed and running, so far no issues but I haven't taken it out on water yet so we will see

I have a 2001 SeaDoo Islandia, threw a rod last year and looking for an inexpensive replacement with possibly more power. I'd even be open to a 4 stroke swap if there is one. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
