Have an issue where my 2005 Seadoo GT LE-RFI lacks acceleration and power especially going from idle or out of doing quick turns or donuts. Once you get going straight it goes and runs fine. It starts right up and idles just fine..

We did suck up a rock and it jammed into the impeller and had to bring it home o remove the rock. I took a picture with my phone, and attached it..

My question is that could that have damaged the impeller enough to cause the lack of power and acceleration? Looking at the best picture I could get of it with my phone, it doesn't appear damaged. My guess that it messed up the clearance enough to cause these issues?

Thanks

Jimmy

It is cracked and some pieces missing. guess t he rocks did their job. i compared it to my other 2005 GTI (no le-rfi) and and definitley not a gap between the wear ring/neoprene seal and the impeller

Sounds like that's your problem. If wear ring is missing pieces and cracked it's going to cause your problems you described.

You can. Not hard at all. Replaced both on our speedster boat this past weekend. I used the freezer method and it was easy.

Now to get the impeller off.. I have the impeller tool, but not the holder. Check out the damage to the wear ring.. Thanks to this drought the lakes are getting low.

I replaced both of mine without removing the impeller. Just froze both housings and new rings overnight. Drive out old ring and new frozen ring slid right in. Very easy...About an hour for both.

Awesome.. thank you for your help Justun... I'll follow your advice and freeze them tonight :) I'll let you know how it goes.

Update. I froze the assembly and new ring .... and could not get the ring out without removing the impeller. I used two big crescent wrenches to remove the impeller. I couldn't believe how bad the wear ring was ... Freezing really made it easy to install the new ring with no issues. ! Thanks for our help and will be testing out the fixed LE-RFI Tuesday. Thanks again for all your help.!!!
