I'm new to this, I maybe got a good deal on 2005 - 155 4Tech Sportster. Engine will not crank, and do I not hear the fuel pump energize when the lanyard is connected. The warning light pod lights up and goes off , The tach swings all the way to the right and back and the buzzer has on long beep. Rather delayed like 10-15 seconds. No double beep. The Speedometer then starts to climb as if the craft is now moving.

I tested the fuel pump according to the manual - there is 12volts to the fuel pump connector, the fuel pump when directly connected to the battery runs, just not when connected on the connector. there is 12 at the Purple wires for the starter relay too It appears to be electrical.

It appears the boat was sunk, but I m not too sure. too there was water in the cylinders when I did a compression check. I removed to water.

Any suggestions on how to proceed would be greatly appreciated.

Silly recommendation but make sure it is not the key itself.

Has this ever turned on when you purchased it?

- make sure DESS post and key contact is clean
- Key is pressed all the way in
- the key is the actual boat key

I had a similar issue and it was the key not making proper contact.

Thanks for the response, it's greatly appreciated. Kind of going nuts trying to figure this out. I cleaned the key and the DESS sensor. I did it test it tough .The person I bought this from said these were the original keys to the best of his knowledge. There is a yellow key labeled old key , the other one is yellow no markings expect DESS. He said one perso could not read the ECM but said the DESS keys were in the DESS. He got frustrated and gave up. Said everyone wanted to buy it from him but not fix it. He was in the middle of now where. Before purchase, I found water in the cylinders and low compression on two of 3 & 4. That's a whole other issue in of itself. I'm assuming the DESS is in the VCM since the I can not find a MPEM. If I disconnect the ECM still get the same response. I've never heard the DESS issue the two quick beeps. The only thing s that operate are the radio, the instrument lights and the bilge blower.

So I put a magnet on the post no key and it acts the same, so can the DESS loose its programming to the key/Lanyard ? I think i read that a key was 85-100 Dollars.

If you have a nearby seadoo dealership, I'd take it there and ask them to program the keys for you.
In canada, it is $60 + $20 for programming.... I'd assume in the US it would be $60 or so

Thanks , I went to the sea doo dealer to get a DSS key made, they could not do it but they sent me to a person that could do it. He hooked up his equipment(sbt) but could not read the computer or codes with either my keys or his service key. It's odd, so I left him the boat. He has accces to parts to swap. He thinks it could be the ECM or DSS post. He is going to look for a ECM in his spares. He said he sees a lot of bad ECU's. Apparently the boats are rare in comparison to the Jet Ski's. I'll you posted as to what it turns out to be.

Looks like its the EFB keeps blowing the 5amp fuse. Someone know where I can get a ECU 420664133 ?
