I have a 2005 sea doo challenger supercharged boat. I am going nuts trying to find what the problem is with it.

The boat has had an intermittent starting issue for a while but is now getting worse. It will start fine out of the water, as soon as I put it in the water...nothing. It doesn't even try to turn over. I can hear the click from the starting solenoid but nothing happens.

Eventually after 20-30 times of pushing my ignition button it will turn over and be fine the rest of the day. Each and every time I launch the boat this happens. A couple times it has happened in the water and left me stranded, it just seems to happen more as soon as I try to start it after the launch.

I have replaced the ignition switch, starting solenoid, and battery so far. Literally I will start the boat 3 minutes before I launch it and as soon as it hits water...it will not do anything.

I have verified no water is in the engine bay, and that the battery is not dead because I have a jump pack. Today, the temperature guage lit up and the engine began to studder after 10 minutes of use. I had to let it cool down and drive back to the launch. This is new, maybe related? Please help me.

well.... with your description... your problem has nothing to do with the water. You have a power problem. So....

1) Your new solenoid is faulty
2) you have a dirty/loose connection on a power cable.
3) The brushes in the starter are warn out.

So....

1) Put in a new solenoid. (yes, again)
2) Remove, clean, replace all the power, and grounds on the big cables
3) Clean, the starter, and replace the brushes.

Ok thanks. I am thinking maybe it is the neutral safety switch. I could not duplicate my problem today. I hear a click near the safety switch when trying to start and i also hear the solenoid click when i push the ignition button. Would the solenoid still engage if the nuetral safety switch was stuck open? I have been reading the safety switch is a common isse with things like this.

If you think it's the switch... pull your handles, and check it.

But if your solenoid is "Clicking"... then the MPEM thinks it's ready to start, and you have an issue with the starting system.
