2005 sea doo sportster 155hp. Not reaching full RPM's or MPH. New plugs, wear ring and impeller.
any suggestions on what to check?

If your not getting any check engine lights or oil alarms then I would start with the throttle cable. Generally when you toy around with this its best to reset your Throttle position sensor (TPS) using budds or candoo.

Just to confirm though, with the boat off put the boat in "F" then put your throttle lever all the way to wide open. Open the hatch and see if the butterfly at the throttle body is hitting the stopper plate. If you have any play or the thottle body butterfly doesn't reach the stopper plate this is definately your problem. You'll find about a foot or so from throttle body the cable will have an adujster just tighten up the cable until you hit the stop plate. Then put throttle lever to "zero" and confirm that the butterfly is hitting the idle stop plate.

Again, you prolly should get your TPS reset but this will at least confirm this is where your problem is.

Just a thought... you mentioned a new impeller was installed. Was this an OEM impeller or an aftermarket? Did you change the pitch of the impeller from stock OEM? This could affect rpm and mph.

Also check the operation of the reverse bucket to make sure it is coming up fully while in Forward. The bucket could be out of adjustment and/or it could have been put back together incorrectly.

By the way what rpm's are you getting and what it your top speed? Was it running correctly before all the new work you described?

Can I reset the TPS or do I need to take it to the shop.
The rpms are never the same when I take it out. When I first got it a couple of months ago I got 7100 Rpms and about 51MPH.
Now I average 5600 to 6100 and about 30MPH. I have already checked the throttle cable. Pulled the plugs out yesterday and they are white (burning lean) Air box was crack and had holes, repaired with tape have not had it out yet. CPU on air box was extremely hot.

The impellare was aftermarket 11/19 pitch.
