I purchased this 2005 GTI Std last year, It has a rebuilt engine. I replaced the fuel pump and fuel filters. On full acceleration, engine rpm is restricted (estimating about 50% of normal - no rpm guage on ski), and ski is slow to plane. Once planed, if I just hold the throttle full open, it eventually experiences significant rpm increase which feels like what I'd expect to be a normal full throttle performance. I continued to hold the throttle wide open and the engine continued at good performance. As soon as I release the throttle and then reaccelerate, the rpm performance drops to the 50% level and stays there similar to the experience of the first start described above. I did continue to hold the throttle wide open and the engine rpm eventually kicked in and back to 100% level and sustained that until I released the throttle and attempted to reaccelerate then it was back to the 50% rpm level. Hopefully you can understand what's happening.
What would cause the reduced rpm at full throttle followed by full rpm until the throttle is released then reduced rpm with a full throttle position?
