So the 1999 spedster may be not a done deal so I've found a 2005 challenger. What do you guys think? The seller is asking 13k. Does it sound gooder? THe seller has said the cover needds to be replaced but the boat has 53hrs on it.

I talked to friend of mine and he says that the 215hp 4 stroke is the way to go and I must agree.... The thing is the fun I had on that speedster was awesome! Will the bigger challenger perform as well because it has more power? I don''t know but I would guess no. The challengers put you in to another price range and I'm not sure what to do. How is the performance for tow sports?
Also, anyone know what a seadoo cover is worth for a challenger?

I looked up current prices per Seadoo catalogue on line. 210 Challenger $769, 230 Challenger $839, 180 Challenger $634
That should give you an idea re. costs.

I will be on the Shuswap out of Sicamous in early May with my 2008 180Se Challenger 255HP. I can't wait.

Have you been on your boat before or is this your first time out? Your boat 18 feet long with the 180 model number correct? Whit that 255 what kind of speed and towing have you done?

If you haven't gone out on your boat before let me know how it goes after your weekend.

If you need a cover get a Poppy cover. just bought 2 of them...for my speedster200 it cost $349 so would presume it would be slightly cheaper for the challenger. From what I have heard (I was looking at the same boat before I bought the speedster) the 215HP challengers are under-powered. If you've decided on the challenger get the 255HP!! Do a search on the forum and you will find past posts listing top speeds ect. for the 215's

Thats the main reason I havent upgraded to a 18 ft challenger. I think they are underpowered. If they made that boat with 310HP, I would be all over it.

Yes my first time ever owning or driving a boat was last season. It is the 180SE 255HP and 17 1/2 feet long. It has all the power and speed I need.
I have had it over 90 kph at WOT on smooth water, but I have never held it there for very long - at 8000 RPM I fear it will fly apart.
I have towed a 3 person large toy with my son and granddaughter on it and can definitely go much faster than is safe to do so.
Others in this forum have said it cannot go that fast, so I am going to take my GPS out this year and check the speedometer reading.
I am not sorry I got the 255 vs the 215HP!

This is why I like the forum thing, thank you for information on the challenger and all. I'm gonna look in to the top speed thing after I write this. I would suspect there are a few owners of the 215hp challengers out there, so what do you guys think or your boats? Are they under powered for towing and would you pass on the 215 and move up? I have a budget that prevents me from going as crazy as I want to on the model and power but I'm just trying to make an informed purchase.

No worries about it flying apart. That is what these are made for. Find an open spot on the water and let er rip. The top speed of the 215's should be 45-48 and the 255's should be 50-52ish.
