Hello there all,
I have been reading all the postings and they seemed really helpful so i just signed up to join the fun. So hello all! So here it goes
About a week ago I traded for a 2005 Sea doo Challenger 180 with upgraded 215hp rotax 4 engine.. I wasn't able to water test it so we hooked up the hose as if we were flushing to try and start it. It started righted up and sounded fine. In addition, all the electrics worked . So we made the deal and parted ways!
Today was the first water test. It was started once more and then dropped in the water. I got one more start once in the water and then tied up to the dock. We got ready to go and all the sudden the boat wouldn't turn over. Gave it a bunch of tries, and the starter tried but no start. This is when the second problem starting occuring. The boat immediately tried starting when I attached the safety lanyard and didnt even matter if i hit the start buttonor not. The button wouldn't kill the engine either, so i had to pull the lanyard.
SO!!! I took the boat back out and over to the dealer where they checked the battery. The battery read 12.5. He then tried started and it was as if nothing was wrong. START/STOP button worked normally and engine ran fine.
SO!! Back to the water we went!!! This time it did start and we actually left. Except when we went to take off there was no throttle response. I had the it on full throttle and it ran barely faster than idle. We returned back to dock and pulled out of water! AGAIN!!!! Started out of water again, and started off course!! It even appeared to rev better when i put it in gear and revved her up. So we tried one last time in water but the same thing happened. What the heck is going on. Sorry for the long post but really bummed and dont know whats going on. Seems like a couple of different things. HELP!!!!
