I am hoping that this is a simple and easy answer. My 05 Challenger had a hard time starting after a long run. It was suggested that I ensure that all terminals were clean and had proper contact. Took the boat out for a quick run, shut it off and proceeded to clean the terminals. Attempted to start the boat to test if the cleaning made any difference and now all I get a clicking noise.

It was a hot day out when I took the boat and hoping that the starter was just hot OR the starter finally died. I have already ordered a replacement starter, but just looking to see if there is anything else that I need to be on the lookout for.

thanks in advance.

You can buy a brush kit for that starter and therefore keep it OEM…AM starters eventually quickly become junk,,,run a positive directly to starter,,,see how it responds…selenoid internal plate contacts can lose complete continuity,,,

I have already switched out the brown to a black solenoid. Hoping it is just the starter. The starter that I ordered is a used OEM so I am glad that I went that route and not AM. I’ll bench test both one I have the old out.
