hi,
i just bought an 04 sportster le. it has been sitting unused for close to a year. the previous owners said they were told it needed a fuel pump. i got it home, checked compression (125 on each cyl). cleaned out the fuel pump (works now). drained all the fuel and put in fresh. it has spark. the engine will run on starting fluid but not on its own fuel.

any help would be greatly appreciated! thanks!

Update:

I put 12v constant to the fuel pump, it fired and wanted to run on its own (not great but, did run)..

125 PSI is low. It should be closer to 150 psi.

It may have other issues.

Is it showing any codes?

i get 2 short beeps when i plug the lanyard in, if thats what you mean..
