Hello All! I have a 2004 seadoo sportser le di. It runs great from idle to half throttle and from 3/4 throttle to full. 1/2 throttle to 3/4 throttle the engines seems to very breifly 'miss'. I have changed the spark plugs so far and it made no difference.

Anyone have any idea's? I am going to try replace the fuel filter next to see if that has any effect but like i said the engine is smooth as silk at idle to 1/2 throttle and smooth as silk full throttle.

Trying to avoid taking it into the 'Stealership' if Ihave to. :)

This is my first year with this boat.

Thanks!

Just a heads up,,,

The fact that you have a DI ski you will get less responses. They are a beast all to themselves and NOT easy to diagnose once they start to have issues. So be a bit patient and give others some time to help you.

Thanks for the heads up. I have been doing some searching and fuel pump seems to be a common issue. But it does run fine at fullt hrottle
Engine was rebuilt from the crank up mid last last year.
Thanks

I have NO IDEA if your ski has a TPS or not, but if so, that could be the issue as the running issue is consistent. By that, runs well at all locations it always runs well and not well at the same location it always runs a bit poor...

Good call! My ski does have a TPS, all BRP semi direct or direct injected engines have one.
The only crappy thing is needs to be hooked up to BUDS to re calibrate the TPS. (I think)

Also, the engine was rebuilt by a non brp marina, so that increases the possibility of it being the TPS miss aligned.

It's not common on the seadoo engines... but if the TPS has a bad spot in it... When you reach that point, the ECU won't know what to do, and that will throw off the mix.

So... it needs to be hooked to a BUDS, and they need to read the TPS signal thought it's travel.

Since it will idle, and go full.... I'm going to say, it's not an issue with the fuel, or air system.

Hello All, I thought I would give you all an update as my issue seems to be an intersting one.
So after taking into the BRP dealership, they spent a day diagnosing, testing on the water, testing elctrical, fuel etc etc, all returning positive results. The technician working on started doing some research and came across an artical in the BRP knowledge base (which they gave me as copy of) which listed the same symptoms as my boat. Looked at some of the stampings on the engine block and the numbers matched that of a 2001 cylinders.
Turns out, the previous owner had a new engine installed end of year 2011 (which i knew about) from a non BRP dealer, but a reputable marina, but what i didnt know is they installed a short block from a 2001 951 di. In 2004, BRP changed the porting and pistons for emmisions etc. That change in porting and pistons requires a different fuel map for the 2004 di vs the older 951 di.

To fix this issue, they need to replace the cylinders and pistons (around 1700 bucks). The crank has not changed from 1999 to 2004 so that is fine....
I can provide the KB article if anyoneis interested.

They said it would, save about 800 bucks but then my boat is a 2004 with a 2001 engine system. Piece work boat.. Hard on resale( although I'm not reselling anytime soon) way to fun!!
Sorry for the slur. Had a few tonight :)
