My 155 4 Tec is having a issue with when I drive it for a while it then gives a beep and then goes into limp mode. I unplug the lanyard and plug back in then it works ok. Seems this really happens when i run it full throttle. When at half throttle it seems fine.

Anyone have any ideas?

Also I cavatate coming out of the hole. Is it hard to change wear rings on these? Do I need a impeller tool to do ring?

With the check engine light you normally get a code. On a ski you hit SET 5 times and can pull the codes. Not sure about the boats.

Unfortunately on this boat (have the exact one myself) the only way to get the trouble codes is to take it to a dealer or get yourself a candoo pro.

Since you mentioned cavitation I might suspect an exhaust temp issue, a cavitating jet pump reduces the exhaust cooling efficiency, but you are getting a check engine light not temp. I would check engine oil level, it should be right in the middle of the two bends on the dip stick. Too much oil can cause above normal oil pressure and set off the chk. engine.

The wear ring itself is not very difficult to do and if the pump is in good shape you should not need any special tools. Search this forum for tips on doing so and the 'freezer' method. If the pump has not been maintained in a while or in salt water, things can get more complicated. Could simply need a new wear ring or a complete rebuild which would require special tools. Won't really know until you get it off the boat and fully inspect it.

Removed at lease 3/4 of a litre of oil rode last night no check engine light so far. Wear ring gets done on Tuesday I will update next week

Well had boat in today and had wear ring and some gaskets on pump changed so should be good to go. Also put on computer and found out why my check engine light and go into limp mode. Was too much oil throwing oil pressure code. Extracted and good to go. Code cleared. One happy camper
