My Sportster had a few tears in the seats and the person who I purchased it from just put some clear adhesive over the tears. It really picked up dirt and looked like crap. I bought one of those vinyl/leather repair kits at Walmart for less than $10. It may not look perfect, but it is so much better than what we had.

Anyway, you lift up and pull out to remove them. What is left is the end of the dart. It is larger than the hole in the back of the seat cushion so I cannot get the seat attached to the darts. I have a shop manual and it just says to tap the darts in with a rubber mallet.

I don't see how I am supposed to tap these in. I tried, but no dice. Just how do the darts work? Do I have the attached to the hull and tap them into the seat or vice versa?

I would suggest you purchase new darts. Normally you push the dart into the seat and then into the hole when you install the seat. The dart end that goes into the hole expands out making it difficult to remove, normally breaking the dart when you extract it from the hole unless you are very careful.

you have to twist the darts as you insert them in the seat hole like a screw motion.then line the holes in the boat and push the cushion with
hand
