I am interested on buying a 2004 Seadoo Sportster! Looks in good condition would you recommend this boat ? Any info would be greatly appreciated thanks

my friend had one and liked it. I rock a 97 Challenger with a 4tec, basically the same boat, just shorter. I love it. Unlike any other boat you've ever driven. It's a blast!

I’ve had the boat for 2 years now and love it. Wasn’t sure how fast I was going as I didn’t think the speedo was accurate showing mid-50s — GPS phone app had me at 71! Only issue is the porpoising with this boat with the slightest water chop so i’m looking into some trim tabs to control it.

70 in a sportster? This is one where I agree with the boat's dream-o-meter. No way that thing can go that fast. 300HP skis top out around 70. You may want to try another app. As for porposing, I setup VTS on my Challenger to keep the nose down. It has the drivetrain from a GTX. I had to drill out the boss on the pump shoe for it. Not sure if yours has that same boss. It was all custom (wiring, switches, gauge etc). You can also buy some trim tabs. I've heard people like those smart tabs. It'll shave your speed though a bit.

Speedster not a Sportster -- but anyway, I will look into a different GPS app and recheck my speed once the boat's out of storage, cuz I did find that hard to believe myself. That said, I did come across an ad posted for an '04 Speedster were the seller is also claiming that he measured his top speed at 70! Same GPS app, coincidentally??

That's fast for that boat. I have the 04 speedster 200 with twin 155s. I bet I'm hitting right at 50, and yes, it bounces A TON. Can't believe they sold boats that were misengineered this way. I wonder what it would do with twin 215's, but I like the fuel range this thing gets. It's as good or better than my single engine 14' Challenger with the 185hp 4tec.

Yea - looking into those Nauticus Smart Tabs -- came across a post on the Sea-Doo Boat Owner's FB page over the weekend and seems to have a lot of positive reviews. There are a few posts on the forum here where some of the guys with this boat installed their own pre-fabricated trim tabs, but for

Yeah - I'm gonna double-check that speed when I can. Looking into those Nauticus smart tabs -- seen a few previous posts in the forum here where guys fabricated and installed their own with steel plates, but for $130, these smart tabs might be worth a shot (seems they got a lot of great reviews, esp. from Speedster owners). It's really the only knock I have against the boat; otherwise it's a blast to drive.
