Hey guys:
I have a 2004 Utopia with a Mercury Optimax M2 200 DFI 2.5L Engine ( SN# 0E415782, Model No: S200J20AS ). At the end of last year I changed all the filters I could including fuel and oil. I changed the inline oil filter, Mercury PN# 875284. I'm just about to fire it up for the season, but I had a question. The inline filter has a arrow pointing on it going towards the smaller oil reserve tank. I believe I remember reading somewhere on this forum about priming beforehand, and couldn't seem to find that post again. when I removed the old inline oil filter, I basically cut off the tie wraps, removed the old and replaced with the new. I do not want to make the mistake of having the engine run without oil, as that would really spoil my summer.... If anyone ( Dr Honda might know if I need to prime the oil system ( and how ), and if I have the filter on in the correct direction, ( almost sure I do, but want to be sure). I've attached pics of the filter and oil.
Thanks!
